JEC Students Witness PM Modi's Virtual Inauguration of India's Semiconductor Industry: 13 March 2024.

Following directives from the Department of Higher Education, New Delhi, and the Directorate of Technical Education, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. P.K. Jhinge, the Principal of JEC, meticulously arranged for students to virtually witness the laying of the Foundation Stone for Tata-Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp's chip fabrication unit in Dholera, marking India's first commercial semiconductor fabrication site. The foundation stone was laid down by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modiji, He also virtually inaugurated the CG Power-Renesas OSAT facility in Sanand (Gujarat) and the Tata OSAT unit in Morigaon (Assam). These projects symbolize India's entry into commercial chip fabrication, expected to enhance the semiconductor industry's growth and global competitiveness.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister also addressed the youth across the country. This is a historic day for India, the PM said, calling it a significant achievement and a big step towards a brighter future "We are taking a big step towards a bright future," PM Modi said after laying the foundation stone. Chip manufacturing will take India towards self-reliance, towards modernity, the PM underlined during his address. "India is set to become a prominent semiconductor manufacturing hub. The three facilities will drive economic growth and foster innovation," Modi said. "Today the youth are seeing how India is working all-round for progress, for self-reliance “

During the virtual inauguration of India's semiconductor industry, engineering students gained insights into the significance of semiconductors for technology advancement and the necessity for India to manufacture its own chips for self-reliance. They also learned about numerous job opportunities in chip-making, which motivated them to consider joining the industry. PM Modi's initiatives underscored the government's support for the semiconductor sector, aiming to bolster youth confidence and create jobs in electronics and telecom.

Dr. Jhinge's efforts ensured a live telecast of the event for students, enabling them to learn about recent government policies aimed at generating employment opportunities. His meticulous planning ensured that students remained well-informed about important national initiatives.
