Uncovering Success: HackJEC 2.0 - A Two-Day Campus Hackathon - September 21 & 22, 2023

HackJEC 2.0, a two day Campus Hackathon, an extraordinary event conducted by the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) at JEC, in collaboration with G20 2023 and sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, took place on September 21 and 22, 2023 at the Jashan auditorium of JEC. The opening ceremony commenced with a Sarasvati Puja, a time-honoured ritual symbolizing the invocation of knowledge and wisdom. As a mark of respect, plant saplings were presented to all the notable members on the dais. The programme was presided over by the Principal Dr P.K Jhinge. After seeking the blessings of the almighty, HackJEC 2.0 unfolded on 21 September 2023 at Jabalpur Engineering College. This event concluded successfully on 22 September 2023.

The primary aim of the event was to enhance student awareness of product innovation and problem-solving concepts. It witnessed a substantial turnout, with more than 50 teams registering and 350 students actively participating. The event was structured into four key phases: registration, idea submission, pre-pitching, and final evaluation. The event aimed to spotlight students' problem-solving skills and creativity on a national stage. In the initial stage of HackJEC 2.0, which included online processes like team registration, problem statement selection, and solution pitching, students responded enthusiastically. Each team had its moment to shine as their names were called, allowing them 7 minutes to share their ideas and demonstrate their prototypes to the jury.

Furthermore, each team had the opportunity to present their concepts and working prototypes individually to the jury members. They were allocated 7 minutes to introduce their ideas and showcase their prototypes, with an additional 2 minutes for questions from the jury. The panel members were impressed by the team's innovative ideas.

A total of 12 teams were chosen for recognition: 10 in the Software category and 2 in the Hardware category. Additionally, 5 teams were placed on a waitlist, illustrating the high level of competition during the selection process, where every team performed exceptionally well. These selected teams would go on to represent JEC at the prestigious National Level SIH (Smart India Hackathon).
